Hey guys, this one should be an easy one.

When I picked up my Silver pigeon 111 quite a few years ago, I had no intention of ever shooting steel through it even though it is apparently rated for it. Things change though.

Anyway, I seem to remember that the chokes that were rated for steel were marked SP and I can't remember if any of the five that came with it are so marked. I'm not home right now or I could just check. If I need some more tubes I may as well get them ordered right away.

Doesn't anyone know offhand if the supplied chokes are SP?

Well, I just took a look at the Mobil Chokes supplied with my wife's Silver Pigeon that has 20 and 28 gauge barrel sets.

The 20ga chokes are marked PB - SP but the 28ga chokes are just marked PB.

Not sure if this helps or if they even make steel 28 gauge ammo.

I don't remember for sure (and too lazy to go down to the gun room and open a cabinet :D), but aren't they the same tubes, just one size up or down (for example a modified choke for lead = full choke for steel, or vice-versa)?

At the present time Winchester does offer steel ammo (branded as Xpert Steel?) but I would be reluctant to use that in the 28ga unless Beretta declares that as ok.

To the OP - the info you were looking for......yes those are marked as such other than the 28ga as already mentioned by TwoTone.

Ahsan Ahmed,

Thanks, that was what I needed. I may still hedge my bets a little by getting a couple or three extended tubes just in case but if Beretta is saying its OK I shouldn't have to worry.
