Hey folks,

After reading the numerous GSG-16 mod threads I’ve decided to give my Henry AR-7 some new pants. Something less bulky and more adjustable than the original stock.

Designed in SketchUp, printed on an Ender 3. Overall length after removing the AR-15 stock is just over 28”. Also, new hooded front sight was printed, sorta based on the Israeli AR-7 variant.

Here’s the first prototype:

Still figuring out some printer issues (outer walls in one place not sticking, big mess left from the supports, etc.) and other things like sling attachment.

Any suggestions, comments? And feel free to post your customized AR-7, of course.

Nice work, my only thought is given the weight and massive recoil of the platform...... a shorter compact hand grip would not compromise handling and combined with a more "in line" rear stock with less drop would make the unit a bit more compact for storage.

I guess the stock angle modification sort of depends on cheek weld for the peep.

Thanks! Yeah, the grip can definitely be made smaller, still haven’t finalized the design. Another variant I had in mind is sort of based on the 1911 grip, with wooden (stained wood-filled PLA filament) scales that screw into the skeletonized grip. As for the stock angle, it makes for a good cheek weld right now, but it can probably be brought up a little bit. I’ll have to try it with some optics and see how it goes. Also should be more compact once I get a proper minimalist AR stock instead of this airsoft-quality one.

Didn’t see the thread before starting on mine, but yours looks great! Will have to look at it on the desktop so I can see the photos more clearly.

Good job on the foregrip, too. That part was always tricky, where to rest the hand.
