My question relates to my Model 100 Winchester .308 semi auto. Once clip empty, it does not stay open. Is this a clip issue or is there something missing in the mechanism to keep breach open?

It's a clip issue.....or not!

A model 88 clip in a 100 will allow the action to close after last shot is fired. I myself much prefer this to having the action jam open:rolleyes:

If you examine the 88 & 100 clip side by side you will see the 100 has a raised square edge on the top rear of the push part of the clip, the 88 has a gradual angle to it.
I grind the edge off 100 clips to allow the action to close & only keep one original to hold the action open for cleaning! I have several 100s :)

Thankyou Senior.
Your help is appreciated and after the debate on leaving open or letting close I will keep it as it is. Thanks again

Jimj I have the exact oposite problem with my model 88. When I run out of bullets in my clip. I can not close the lever, ouch. Maybe we should hook up and right these two wrongs. Or I can sell you my model 88 308 so you can have cousins. Pm I am in Winnipeg.

In regards to the sale I bought my M-100 a year ago for $150.00 seen exact same rifle in Gun show in Stienbach area for $450.00 with no sights and clip. Mine was clean compared to it. Will consider your offer at alater date.( bought to many toys this year)
