Looks like I'm going to inherit a Winchester Model 12 Field grade, 12 gauge, full choke with a rib.
A trap shooter bought it new about 40 years ago. He wasn't happy with it's mechanical functioning, so he sent it to Winchester and they tuned it for him. He was really happy with if after that, but has not used it for a lot of years, so it is in beautiful condition.
So what do you guys think a reasonable selling price would be?
A price that someone could reasonably be expected to pay for it delivered to them.

Model 12s are beauties and can be the slickest cycling pumpguns ever made but that doesn't change the fact that what people want these days. They want interchangeable barrels for ducks and bears and interchangeable chokes to shoot steel shot. I would be bet willing to bet that gun you're getting is beautiful but to anyone but a collector you won't get much money for it.
 
There are so many things about a Model 12...that make it good and make it bad... without several good quality pictures and a very accurate description and an analysis of how it functions today, a value is a big guess.
 
A field grade 12 with a full choke and rib would bring $350-400 around here at auction. It's a shame. 20 years ago they were $1000 guns in the same shape. I have a particular soft spot for them as I have the one my grandfather bought new in 1956......
 
I love model 12's as well, however, unless it's a collector, or unusual in some way, I wouldn't think more than $400 - 500 depending on condition. As said above, interchangeable everything on a shotgun seems to be what people want. The first shotgun I ever shot a round of trap with was a model 12 trap, built in 1950 something, with the monte carlo style stock, and I think I shot a 21 or something like that. I have been looking ever since for another shotgun that would duplicate the same feel as that old model 12.
 
Thanks guys, you have reinforced my thoughts, pretty well. So much has changed in the world of shotgun shooting, and what gets shot (up) with shotguns.

Those are US prices... it won't happen up here... and a collector bases value on original condition and rarity.

Model 12's were over rated for many years... reality has set in...
 
If that model 12 was new 40 years ago it will be in the "Y" series. The Y series have cast receivers and other modern manufacturing techniques incorporated that makes them worth somewhat less to model 12 collectors. They are good guns but the old pre 64 status still is the most desirable.
