Hi Louis,
I shot my first deer with an old '07. It was my Dad's rifle; he bought it used and reblued in 1960 and quit hunting in 1966. It's a pretty good short-range deer rifle. Wish I had one....and a whole lotta ammo!

well i,ve got 2 of them suckers. i have lots of 357 maximum brass to make the 351 brass. i need some wood
for one of them. i'm gona try shooting some 357 158 gr
pistol bullets and see how thats shoots. if not , i'll have to look for some casting moulds, there must be somebody
else on this list that shoots one of these things.
cheers
Louis

The bore size of the .351 is actually .351" and should probably use a .352" cast bullet or j-word. I know alot of people shoot .358 bullets in them, but if one has trouble with that(chambering round, or some such), keep in mind that it may call for the smaller bullet.

I have one of them... Hasnt been shot in years.. Was my grandfathers 2nd favourite rifle next to the 1913 32spl i covet sitting beside... Last time i fired it i was paying 3$ a squeeze!

Yeah, I stocked up and bought 150 rounds of .351 ammo at $75 bucks per 50 rounds (in the 1980's)....then my Dad gave the rifle to my nephew! So I traded the ammo to the kid for my first .22, which his dad (my brother) had persuaded me to part with years earlier.
BTW, Old Western Scrounger sells bullets for the .351 as well as loaded ammo. I believe the bullets are plated cast lead. They are 180 grain, same as all original loads I know of. And if you want brass. contact E#llwood Epps. I know you can use .357 Maximum, but it's a bit of work.

About 10 years ago i was in Bisley England. They had just passed a law that all semi-auto rifles had to be turned in for destruction or welded up.

While I was visiting a gunsmith a fellow came in with his Winchester 401 in a nice fitted case. He wanted it welded. he was in tears. What a waste!
