Just curious as to the value for the run of the mill
Remington Model 31 in a 16 gauge?
Haven't seen it, nor know the fine details of her.
These any good and what price ranges do they
fall under?
What do they compare to?
I haven't seen one of these come up for discussions yet.
Cheers.

Probally one of the best if not the best pump action shotgun ever made. In my opinion a slide-action shotgun that felt like it was on ball bearings and to me superior to Winchester’s Model 12 it's competition at the time. Last made in 1949 it was like winchesters super x-1 all precision-machined parts and the handfitting required made the gun very costly to build and remington lost money on them they say in ther later years.
I have at least one in 16ga in my herd and paid about 350 for it and was quite happy with that price. Most are beat to crap and it is hard finding a good one plus parts today unless you have a stash are very difficult to find.
One of those guns it is nice to have in the herd but if you only can have one pump it is not a model 31.Just one man's 2 cents

Like 3macs said, top of the heap for quality built old pumps. Parts can be hard to find but if the gun hasn't been used much you will probably not need replacement parts in your lifetime. If it is in really good condition, I would grab it. Price will be low due to it being a discontinued model and all, you shouldn't pay more than $400 unless it is as new condition in my opinion. Don't know if they were ever made with 2 9/16 inch chambers. Winchester switched to the 2 3/4 inch chamber in 1926 so by 1931 I would think everyone had switched. They are SUPER smooth to operate.

Thanks for the info.
This gent has a mixed bag of kibble and bits he would like to dispose of
and I couldn't write the info down fast enough.
I told him to sort out the $$ and I would send him the $$.
No reply yet.
Maybe need to tug the chain a bit.
Cheers.

A 16 ga. Remington model 31? That's a gem of a classic. As the others have said, this is arguably the finest pump ever designed. Forged steel parts, machined, hand-fitted, etc. You'll be impressed. That being said, it was designed and built decades ago. Big NO to steel shot first of all. There are NO aftermarket parts like you would see for an 870, if that is your direction. But replacement parts are available, as are stocks. A 16 ga. will make a great upland gun (a little on the heavier side, but no big deal) or a great duck gun if you can locate some soft non-toxic shot for it. If it's a Full choke, that will constrain its pattern size - you can always have it reamed open to IC or Mod if you feel your style requires it.
