Are model 700 aftermarket stocks compatible with a model 7?

I have a Model 7 in .243 with the original wood stock, and I am thinking about changing it up for something new. There are some really great stocks for model 700's, and it would be nice to know if I can mix and match them...

Also, if anyone has any suggestions or even better some pics of their model 7's that would be great!

No, they won't interchange.

I'm looking for an aftermarket myself. The Bell and Carlson Carbelite seems reasonably priced, but importing from the US is difficult at best. I don't feel like spending $500 or so on McMillan,Wildcat,Bansner, etc.

Hopefully someone will chime in with some info. :D

There is a factory synthetic for sale on the EE, but that's what I have already.

Been scoping the McMillan site, and would love to have something like the A3-5 or A4, ADJ M3A or something similar... if only I had the money... lol

But then again if I had enough money I'd buy an AI stock, always been my favorite looking stock....

I think you may have trouble finding a dedicated benchrest stock for a Model 7.
Most owners of Model 7's are looking for lightweight components, that's the sole attraction of the M7 action. Those looking for something in a long range/precision rifle by Remington go for the M700.

Yeah, I kind of figured as much, but I already own a M7 lol.... and .243 is so versatile...

My trouble is finding a paint that actually sticks well. I'd order the Wildcat in a flash for under $300 if I could make it look good....webbing,etc.

What kind of paint do you use? Krylon has worked OK for me, but it's not the greatest.

Armacoat, for the last one (they also make webbing) - but I may try out endura one of these days.
