As far as I can tell, Wholesale Sports doesn't carry 225win cases; this is probably a good indication as to the availability of the cases. They do sell one loaded round (part# 51622) though weather they actually have it in stock is a different story. The case head is the same size as all 308/30-06 brass, so the rifle could be re-chambered to something else, or the action could be used for any of those cartridges. The action is most probably a post64 push feed and an early model at that. (not all that sought after) To buy the fifle to play with that particular cartridge, sure if you realize the serious problems in doing so, but the cartridge, and rifle are not popular, and when it comes time to re sell it you may not be able to.

Unless you have a supply of ammunition or cases lined up the rifle could be an orphan. Boltface is standard size, so conversion would be an option. The magazine is unique.
I suppose if the rifle were in superb condition, it could eventually have collector appeal. Sort of like an Edsel.
The price should reflect the ammunition situation.

"...same size as all 308/30-06 brass..." A .225 Win is a semi-rimmed case. Same diameter, but with a different extractor.
The value of any rifle depends on condition and how much you want to pay.
Epp's is listing .225 Win ammo and brass. Doesn't say what make or how much though. I'd bet that Shooter's Choice and Goble's has it too.
Winchester is listing just one factory load. Wholesale Sports wants $31.99 per 20. That appears to be the only factory ammo available.
I have data in an old Hodgdon manual, if you want it. Mind you, there's current data on Hodgdon's site too.

The .225 Winchester has a rimmed case as opposed to the .308 being rimless.

The 225 Winchester was designed to work with any 308/30-06 boltface. The rim is .463, and the rim thickness is .049. These dimensions are exactly the same as any 308/30-06 cartridge. Winchester used exactly the same magazine in the 225win as they did in the 243win; only the feed rails are slightly smaller, but if you where to re chamber, any competent gunsmith can open these up with no problem.

If all of the dimensions are the same, why do you think it would have to use a different extractor?
