I'm not too familiar with the model 70, but if it doesn't have a seperate bolt head, it might be a lot cheaper to stick with a magnum size case. I'd stick with the 7mm rem mag. If you feel like being different and having a lighter recoiling laser cannon, go 264 win mag. Barrel life will suffer though. The 7wsm is also pretty cool and something I'd like to build someday if there's some decent brass made for it.

Im starting to think about a 264wm, Ive been watching the EE for barrels, i still need an AI mag, have a recoil pad installed and the rifle assembled and magwell fit so bit by bit it will come together, i recieved my screw kit tuesday and bought a night force scope rail from a cgn member this week, all of it has come off the EE.

My vote would be a 7mm Rem Mag with a 1:8 twist barrel to handle any 7mm offering, even the new 195gr Bergers when they become more available. Even the 180 Bergers at close to 3000fps will do fantastic on game and get you way out there.

If it was me personally, I'd get a 1 in 7.2" twist barrel and go 264wm. I would shoot the 160 matrix or 165 chinchaga. The ballistics would be amazing and there would be very little recoil. Or you can get 1 in 8 twist and shoot the 140 gr bullets at a fair clip. H1000 or retumbo would be my powder of choice.
