Looking at the Winchester Website I see they have a Model 70 Featherweight Compact this year.

Is this the same as the Compact they had a few years back? I handled one about 5 years ago but I don't remember it having the featherweight stock?

One of these in 7mm-08 should make a superb all around deer, black bear, coyote/wolf rifle and pretty decent for Moose as well.

Wonder when we will start to see some of these in our Canadian stores?

It looks the same, I have the "Classic Compact" in 308 from a few years ago. I bought it because I loved the little stock, short LOP and short forend. But the part I liked the most was the slim belly, which holds one less round in the mag box. Then the little stock I loved cracked at the wrist and I put on a crappy Ramline which required a standard mag box.

Well, that sucks! Wonder if this is a common problem with these?

What kind of accuracy are you getting with it?

I don't think the stock problem is common, I have never heard of another one doing it. The grain was not good and the "hot glue" bedding was done wrong and the rear action screw was bearing on wood after the glue compressed. The crown on mine also had a big burr on it. Mine was somewhat of a "lemon"

I have only ever shot 150 and 165g interlocks out of it with Reloader 15 powder, no real load deveolpment. Accuracy is not that great (2") but good enough for hunting. Between myself and friends and family and I think the gun has taken 6 or 7 deer with the 165g Hornady interlock boat tail so it must be working!
