Where are these creatures to be found now-a-days? I don't believe I've ever seen one for sale and happened to stumble on to this picture. I think I need to find one in 22-250...

Was this just a teaser from Winchester before they went kaput?

Two things.
1.) Good luck
2.) Yuk.

What was in their last catalouge were produced...In limited numbers. And dealers snatched up everything, or so I heard.

that rifle could be named the model 70 laminated brokeback sheep edition, available with pink/purple laminate

So that's the rifle you keep in the closet and not in the safe? :D

Seriously though, I want one in a varmint caliber and the manly rules of rifles don't apply to varmint guns. When I'm out seeking large mammals in the bush with antlers I worry about looking ### and being forced to "play for the other team" by a 200lb+ ungulate named Buck!

It would look nice though next to my Savage MkII BTVSS. I'm just looking for a new 22-250 to replace the one I had to sell earlier in the season. Just trying to figure out the rate of twist and barrel length I want. Liked my Stevens a lot but the new one is going to be a bull barrel at the least and probably stainless.

Haven't even looked at a Remington. Saying you didn't mean Canadians aren't important to you doesn't change the fact it was said. Might be different if there weren't other manufacturers out there. So far I've been considering three options: Browning Eclipse with BOSS-CR in a laminate stainless, Ruger #1 Stainless laminate and last but not least the CZ 550 Varmint - Laminated. I'd be tempted to pick up a Savage (really like the accu-trigger) but the one I had looked at only comes in a 1:12 twist and I think I might be leaning more towards a 1:10 Think I might only want to shoot 40gr but the option to use 55gr would be nice too.

Think the Browning will be off of the list though because of the 22" barrel.

Tough decisions to be made when you start looking at coyote defence....

iirc the dude was fired or let go, if you can actually find the quote...
the funny thing is about 10-15 years ago Savages were getting written up in Varmint Hunter and other mags as being pretty accurate out of the box so i thought i'd get one to try....
well good frikkin luck finding one in canada pretty much for the same reason as above but now you can't mention remington without a reference to some yahoo that may or may not have said that but say anything about savage and the congregation of the savage church jumps down your throat
oddly enough in the history of me buying guns i could always walk into any shop and by a model 700.....

Sorry about the confusion there Pharoh2 I should have been a bit clearer about that.

Never heard the story about Savage. I know some people can't stand Ruger for not standing behind firearms owners. Honestly if I could buy all my rifles from a Canadian manufacturer for the same ball park price you pay for a rifle from one of the other mainstream companies I would. I do own a Savage rimfire though as was noted above which is made in Canada ;)

Anyways this is getting off topic. If the dealers bought them up wouldn't they have then sold them? Or do you mean dealers added them to their personal collection never to be released to the light of day?
