I have just acquired a model 70 push feed carbine in 30-06. Love the gun, a joy to carry when walking all day. The 20 inch barrel does not catch on anything.
I have been a Remington user for 4 decades. I realize that all kinds of aftermarket parts exist for the Model 700 and that it is very accurate. Much has also been said about the return of the Winchester Model 70 pre-64.
My question is, how many people out there actually use a Model 70 push feed? You see far fewer for sale than older Remington 700's (the internet is full of concerns about current Model 700 quality control).
Differences in accuracy should not be in play - if so we would never be using automatics/pumps/lever actions. Not to say these are bad choices, but less likely to have the same level of accuracy as bolt actions.
So, given minute of deer accuracy, accuracy should not be a factor in choosing the Model 700 vs a Model 70 push feed (or automatics/pumps/levers).
So, where are the Model 70 push feed users? What are your thoughts on the Model 700 vs Model 70 push feeds?
