Model 70 Stealth?

no real panick to shoot this thing yet, since hunting season is looming and I wont have much time for the range. Thanks for the offer though, but I'd hate to get the scope and not be able to test it out!!! Thanks again Jerry :)

todbartell:

I'm looking forward to seeing/reading a range report! That should be exciting since the FNUSA stuff is excellent from what I've felt.

A close friend has an FNHUSA made M70 Extreme SS in .308 and I'm super impressed with the quality of the M70 rifles coming out of FN's factory!

Cheers,
Barney

I can't believe you turned that offer down. :eek: Not that its any of my business. :)

I'm gonna slap on my Vx3 4.5-14x40 LR w/ M1 turret off my 7SAUM, since I dont plan on shooting that one until next spring. :)

How about a picture review of the fit and finish of this rifle?
The accuracy report can come later :D

I'll take some pics when I'm at the range. I scrounged up 67 pieces of 1 fired W-W brass I had in a bin, and a guy gave me an old set of RCBS dies. I got some 155gr Scenars leftover from when I had my 300WSM last summer. I'll throw some loads together tonight and hopefully go shooting tomorrow. Fit/Finish on this rifle is excellent , we'll see if she shoots!

it shoots pretty good! had two touching @ 90 yards while getting the scope dialed in. Five shots in 1.5" @ 150 yards and then I spent the last 9 rounds firing at the 460 yard gong. Took a few rounds to find the right dope, but hit it four outta six at the end. 6" diameter

here's some pics

developed a bit of a load today

Nosler 168gr HPBT @ 2.84"
42.5grs IMR 8208xbr
Norma brass (thanks DizzyDan)
WLR primer

chrony @ 2750 fps and accuracy was just over 3/4moa for 5 shots @ 100 yards

I've been successful with this load from my 2010 Stealth:

* Winchester brass cases
* WLR primer
* 43.0 gr WC735 Surplus powder from Higginson Powders in Vankleek Hill, ON
* Lapua Scenar 155 gr boolits
* Seated to fit & function in the magazine (not worried about lands, distances, & BR accuracy) YET! :D

It's shooting into 3/4" regularly at 100m. Nothing fancy, but it works! :D

Cheers,
Barney

Hi Barney is it really 44.5 grains or is that a typo? (Hodgdon lists 43.5 H335 as a max load and I thought WC735 was one of those "10% faster than H335" powders - so I would have thought that a max load would be no more than 40 grains. Also the Lapua 155 tends to need half a grain or even a grain less powder than most others 155s, for a variety of reasons).

Cheers,
