EJS Mainspring Changing Tool Remington 700, 600, 40x, Model 7, XP-100, 722, 721

This tool compresses the firing pin to allow access to the firing pin retaining pin so you can easily remove it from the cocking piece. Perfect for replacing springs or putting on aftermarket bolt shrouds. It will work on any Remington 700 (Long or Short Action), 600, 40X, 7, XP-100, 721 and 722.

Take a small piece of tubing, (I used a piece of aluminum arrow shaft) small enough to go in the bolt body, large enough to go over the firing pin tip, about one inch long... unscrew the firing pin assy from the bolt body, drop the tubing in, screw the assembly back into the bolt body... the cocking piece will be extended beyond the shroud and you can drive the retaining pin out....figure it out from there.........:)

nice!!! thanks....
Hi Donny

I recently developed a changing tool for Remington actions & others. If you wish I can send you one to try if you send me your mailing address. This tool uses the compound leverage of your loading press - I think you will find it very handy.

The suggestion from Guntech will also work.
