I just took my rifle apart and now the when I put it back together the bolt doesn't want to go all the way down into the stock? What would cause this?

It seems to lock into postion and the safety works and the fireing pin engages when I pull the trigger, but the bolt doesn't seem to wanna go alll the way down, I even took the rifle apart and looked it over nothing seem to be wrong:runaway: and still the samething  just won't turn down into the stock..sticks kinda straight out....

Thanks guys all the help would be great I'm confused:confused:

What did you take apart?
The bolt or just the action out of the stock?
Is the front screw too long and preventing the bolt lug from rotating?

Take the metal out of the wood, cycle the bolt , check to see that all works, if so ,when you put the metal back in the wood, place the mag body in the underside of the action correctly, inspect it to see that its not bent out of shape . Then put the whole works back into the wood . Holding the floorplate and trigger guard up against the bottom of the wood , secure the bolts (short bolt up front, long one for the tang. When half way tight , tap the butt stock on the deckto make sure all is snug against the lug, then tighten it up.
Other thing to look for, foreign objects or bedding material that may be inside the front lug action area.
good luck

John your problem is that the front action screw was screwed in too tight and it protudes into the action stopping the bolt.Just back it out a little. You may have to sand it down a bit to get a tight fit.

I've tried to back it out just a little but still no go:confused:

I even tried it without the front screw, I even tried the bolt while the action was out of the stock ....still won't turn in .... Sheesh! this is what confuse's me: the bolt won't turn in while the action and barrel are out of the wood....

It sounds like you should sell this really cheap to the first person who says "I'll take it off your hands".

"I'll take it off your hands". :D

It is a puzzler - if it was working before you took it apart, why did you take it apart? Is there some debris preventing the bolt from closing. Everything you have described - an answer has been given.

You are going to have to figure it out from here or take it to someone who can. I would guess a hands on inspection by someone knowledgable could solve it quickly.

Ok I got it figured out with a little Help from my fellow Gun Nut Chola ... I asked him about my problem and he told me to check the screw length on the Scope Mount BASE'S and guess what they are just alittle bit to long and were stopping the bolt from closeing all the way... So got it working and the wife is happy ... thanks guys for all the Help.. who would have thought ..... I never did LOL! Oh and by the way the Gun is a 7MM-08 Mountian rifle and she is going to have the time of her life this Spring for Grizzly ....she got a draw ...so I guess I'm the back up guy with the camera and the trusty .30cal ......
