Hello all. Could someone tell me if the mounting system on a model 700 is the same as a model 7 remington...I have bases and rings here I just removed from a Model 700...wondering if they will fit onto a Model 7...or does the model 7 have completely different drillings and setup.

Thanks

,no they are different, rings will work but need different bases,on model seven go with two piece base ,i had a one piece on one of mine and soon bought a two piece ,one piece does not leave enough finger room unless you got small fingers

They are different, and there are two different styles for the Model Seven as well, 3 hole on the older ones (2front, 1 back), and 4 hole on the newer ones.

Supercub is correct. I had an older model seven and it was a 3 hole 2 front, 1 in back. no choice but to go with a one piece base on the older Model Sevens, thats if you want to keep it factory.

I have a set of Weaver bases I'll ship to you for free if you want them. They're the 4 hole design- so check your rifle, but I bought them before I foumd a set of Talleys. noe that I've got the Talley's I don't think I'll be using the weavers. Let me know if you want them.

I checked a while back and found out that the older 3 holes (1pc base) can be changed to the newer 4 hole (2pc base) by just adding one more hole and using the ones already there. I may have that done to my Model seven and get a 2pc set of Weavers for it.

Yeah, I took a look at the 2 hole rear and wondered if one could simply have the second hole added. My only beef was how the base protrudes past the rear receiver cutout, out into the loading port. It just looks bad to me.:puke: That, and I found a NIB set of Talleys for $32.:dancingbanana:
