I just purchased a model 94AE 30-30
I have never used a rifles open sights other than my CZ 858 before.
The front sight on this winchester was to far to left so i hit it lightly with a punch to knock it over a tad and now its totally loose.
I can move it with my fingers from left to right abot a 1/4 inch....is ther a way to tighten this front sight up so it dont move?
Did i wreck it?

Sights go in right to left in a slightly tapered slot, so if it was moved too far to the left it will be loose if brought back very much to the right. You could smear the slot with a little Devcon, but that would eliminate any adjustment in the future. Or take the sight out completely and peen the edges of the sight, (not the slot) very very lightly. Some also use a sharp punch and peen the bottom surface of the slot to raise little craters that will help grip the sight. That's tricky. If you have a gunsmith nearby, you will probably be best to let him handle it.
FWIW, I adjust front sights that are mounted in ramps with a Williams sight pusher, it is precise and does not mess things up.
