Model 94s' Price Increase??

Looks like it has a carbine butt stock. Perhaps it was broken years ago and changed out? Any 1894 I find with a replaced stock I always inspect the tang of the action very closely as they were prone to cracking if the stock received a hard impact. It is possible it was ordered that way but factory letters are unavailable below serial number 353,999.
Under the top tang inletting on the rear stock if you look closely, you may find some numbers.
Three, maybe four stamped into the inletting flat.
With any luck, these may duplicate the last numbers of the serial number on the bottom of
the front side receiver.
You may have to git yer noze close to it as they can be hidden in there tightly.

It is a shame what some of these old girls have had to put up with. My 1899 model 94 was used to club a black bear to death, so it has a replacement
stock and the top tang has been welded together, all of which eventually made the owner store it in his basement for a few decades leading to pitting.
Fortunately, I came along to give it new life and an honored place, with its battle scars preserved!
