Model 94's

Can anybody tell me when Winchester started installing a coil spring as a hammer spring in the Model 94.
I have a 1980 version with a Coil spring.
My 1970 and 1971, 94's use a leaf spring.
Just wondering.

Looks like coil springs started with the "fourth model", introduced in 1978. This according to Robert Renneberg's Winchester Model 94 - A Century of Craftsmanship.

Cool book. I recommend it.
