Model 99 savage in 300 Savage what is it A,B.C...?

Hi Folks: Recently acquired a 99 Savage in 300 Savage. It only says 99 Savage with no letter. It's a takedown model with Scnabel forestock, it has checkering on the stock, the barrel is 23" to the start of the threads or 24" including the threads. According to the serial number on Savages Website it was manufactured in 1926 but the Boss Code, "M" would indicate a 1961 year built? Totally confused, any information would be greatly appreciated.

Doug, it's a 99G made in 26 with a 24" bbl.

The M was just an assemblers mark back then, date codes didn't start till 1949.
