Brand Spanking new. might be the only one in Canada right now. got this about 3 weeks ago and finally had a chance to put some rounds down range over the last few weekends.

today was -19 with windchill and winds NW at 28km/h. so far i'm impressed. best 3 shot group at 100M was 13/16" or about 21mm.

here's a few pics of the rifle before and after.

it was nice, before you put them Weaver mounts on it

I had a CDL Model Seven on order in 243 but cancelled and went with the LSS 700. Nice rifles though

Nothing wrong with the Weavers. Maybe they don't look "cool" or whatever but I guarantee they will never let your scope slip and at the end of the day that is all that counts.

Nice looking rifle too. :)

...scratch your scope up snapping them damn things over the tube..stupid design

Only if you don't know how to install them. Grab both ends of the top halves and spread them a bit before dropping them on the tube. No fuss and no marks. Don't over-tighten and you will get no more marks than with any other type of ring.

Damn you! Just when I thought I had curbed my urge to lay down the cash for one of those in 243 you go an tease my like this. My bank account is going to hate you.:D

My buddy has one in .270 WSM he bought it last year from WSS he waited 8 months for it. The thing that impressed me most about that little rifle was the wood stock. I don't know if he fluked out or what but his stock looks awsome. They are a nice little rifle thats for sure.

I have a 700 CDL in 270 Winchester that has a gorgeous piece of wood on it. Could have come from the Custom shop. Best part, the rifle shoots well under 1" with 140 Partitions. 140 Accubonds and with the 130 TSX. Regards, Eagleye.

manboy, I don't think you should have to apologize for your mounts... That is a damned fine looking rifle! I've been interested in a model Seven CDL since they were first announced...maybe one in 7-08...:)

Jeff.

Rem Mod 7

You will like the Model 7 in 7-08.
I have a model 700 BDL with a 7-08 Mountain rifle barrel and I like it. I have a number of friends telling me that they heard about the 7-08 and they are looking for one. I told them to just pick up a Remington in 308, 243, or 6mm and have a 7-08 barrel put on like I did.
The 7-08 seem to be getting as popular as the magnums. I believe the older guys are getting tired of being thumped around and are leaning toward a reasonable recoil.
If I take anything to my gunsmith and ask him to work on something other than a 7mm you will wait. If I take a gun down to be rebarreled to a 7 X 57 or a 7-08 you will have it in a week or two.

Remington did a nice job on those CDLs! Now we need to see one like yours in a 358W.

Keep the bases and get a set of Buris Zee rings. :canadaFlag:

.

it's shooting 13/16'' at 100 meters with NW winds at 28km/h on a basically south range. right out of the box. of course with the windchill at -20 and me freezing my ass off i'll be expecting to tighten that up on a nice warm windless day :)

reloads only, no factory ammo.

Boy thats a sweet rifle.
Man I wish I had one.
Boy o boy, do you think you could get any more bullets hung off the stock?
Man o man that is a good group for the conditions for sure.

sorry it had to be done.:p

 What was this for and did it REALLY have to be done?

Am I detecting jealousy???;)

Very nice rifle!!! 7mm-08 is not one of my favs but it's a good one for sure.

Buy one in available in 350RM and load it it down slightly to 358W levels if you choose to do that - easy - since both calibres beg to be handloaded anyway. However, probably not necessary for most with that new fangled R3 Limbsafer,:) When you grow up:p you could easily top up the cases to get some improvement. Always give up one in the magazine I suppose though which may bother some.
