Provided that the gun is in good condition it should handle all current 9mm no problem. That said I'd probably stick to softer loads. A straight diet of NATO spec might give the old gal a bit of trouble after a while and spare's aren't as easy to come by as 1911's or other newer stuff.

That said, wartime ammo was pretty hot.

Have the old girl checked out by the best gunsmith you can find, and put in new springs. The P38 is definitely a pistol you can go to war with. Mine is a beast and eats everything.
