Modern Machine Gun demo

6oo to 800 RPM will do that. No muzzle rise is typical of MG's with high rates of fire. MG 34's and 42's were like that, but far higher ROF. There's lots of recoil. Mind you, being on a bipod helps a whole bunch.

Dunking a hot barrel in water??? Would that not ruin the barrel?
the steel used in the barrels of modern machine guns will not be adversely affected by a water cooling. i`m not sure the alloy, but on the C6 or Mag 58, the brits would dunk them constantly. i even saw them pissing on them to cool the barrels. we, on the other hand, would allow our barrels to cool slowly which not only caused much pointing and whispering amongst our british brethren, also will not adversely affect the barrels. only warped or cracked military machine gun barrels i ever saw was one C6 barrel that saw waaaayyyyy too many belts(over 10) before a barrel change, but it straightend out as it cooled, and had a cracked C5(30 cal) barrel, but we never figured that one out. our Pl Comd kept saying it cracked because of the rain we were firing in. he only stayed in the army for 3 years…..

That's the Bundeswehr's new MG, the HK121 isn't it? Very neat, space aged stuff. Belt fed, intermediate rate of fire (bet the troops will love that after carrying for the MG-42 and MG-3 for the last 72 years!), and all the tactical accessories. What was the barrel swap demo about? Was one barrel shorter? The bipod in the forward grip was a neat idea too.

Thanks for the vid!
