IMG_0644.jpgI got to the range today, only had two hrs though.
So I shot a few fast groups, after I got it sighted in.

I shot about 200 rnds, most doing load testing.

Mostly reloads, consisting of Hornady 53 and 55 g Vmax and CFE.223,Varget and bench mark.

Varget gave me two sub MOA groups.
.785 and .929.

Got a few ,just over MOA with CFE and Bench mark.

Fired a couple of boxs of factory,Barnes TTX 55g and Hornady vmax 53 g.
Both were about 1 1/2 MOA.

I had 2 light primer strikes ,from my handloads.
And one failure to fire, from the Barnes.

I finished off with a mag dump:)

So overall I'm very pleased.

I'll do more testing with the Varget and .223 combo.
Have a good one.

All groups are 5 rounds at 100 yrds.
I have a couple of 10 round groups,using ,556 ammo,about 2 MOA

And here's two 10 rnd groups,
Barnes TSX 1.6 MOA
53 Vmax handloads 1.5 MOA IMG_0653.jpgIMG_0652.jpg

It got the proof CFW barrel.

The results were better than expected.

I chewed through 200 rounds in under 2 hrs..
This included set up, sighting in a new scope, and multiple trips downrarange, change targets, check targets.

Man, she's so easy to keep on target,it's amazing.

I was hoping for better performance out of the CFE,as I have a chit load.
Maybe it'll light up the 69 g Sieras I have. :)

Try the CFE223 under a Nosler 62gr Varmageddon, has shot sub MOA in 3 of my rifles.

Nice shooting by the way :)

I have a couple boxs of Sierra 69 g TMK,I'm doing next.
I picked up a box of 75 g ELD , but my mag OAL is a bit short, so I might ditch those.

I'll get some 62 varmageddon to try as well.

The PST kinda cancels out the weight savings, from the CFW barrel:)

But I like the extra magnification and clarity, for load development.
I think I might ditch it for something lighter though,

I was going to look at the MH, but I might wait until BCL releases stripped upper/lower combos.

I put a Sightron S-Tac 3-16x42 on my MH, in a QD PEPR mount it comes in at 11.1 pounds.

I wouldn't wait for BCL, they've said they won't be selling upper/lower combos so I figure that by the time they realize they should there will be other options available that will crush BCL in the quality department.

How do you like the Vortex PST Gen 2 on your rifle? That's the scope I was thinking of putting on my 6.5 Grendel upper once it arrives but I was wondering if it may be a little too much scope for the little MV. After seeing that scope on yours though it doesn't really look as out of place as I thought it might. Any thoughts?

The gen 11 is very clear, really nice turrets, etc.

I like the high magnification for target shooting and load development.
But for hunting , it's way overpowered.

Also, I find the reticle a bit busy.
I can still see the .223 holes, but gotta look around,,through all the sub tensions , to find them.

And regards to the weight, it's not bad really.
Shooting offhand was a breeze.

I'm thinking a leupold VX6 3-18x44 ,would be an ideal optic for this gun.

Light weight, low enough magnification for hunting and high enough for target/load development.
And I've read the clarity is superb.

Once I get which bullets, that work best, I'll be selling this and moving down in magnification and weight.
Maybe a VX6 3-18
Or a VX3 4 -14
