I am maybe/possibly/perhaps considering selling or trading off my camo painted AKM chop mod stock, as pictured above.
Anyone interested?
Cash is not really a priority right now, but maybe an interresting trade??
The stock would be available with or without the YHM tube butt stock and AR 15 full length buffer tube that hides inside the YHM butt. I know most people prefer a sliding stock on their AKM, but the chop mod balances better for me with the YHM tube stock.
The chopmod with YHM butt weighs in at 5 Kilos with a shorty M14, with comp, scope and an empty 5/30 mag, and it balances WAY better than the regular AKM stock. I tried two different Norcs in it last weekend, using iron sights and a 4X scope, and shot off about 40 rds ...
as 5 rd strings, mostly to see what ammo it preferred.
With one norc, basically a stock shorty, it was totally reliable, but it shot about 2" -3" groups.
With the other norc, highly modified with GI bolt, round op rod spring guide, etc, it shot one group that was sub-moa [ Federal 150 gr hi shock SP ], but there were a few stoppages as the extracted brass got caught between the rail and the receiver.
This is a warning to those using the GI bolts and GI extractor/ejector and spring ... sometimes you have to clip a few coils off of the ejector spring to get the extraction just right with a low mounted scope rail. This also occurs sometimes with the new style solid bridge ARMS mount.
So the AKM rail will probably have a meeting with Mr Milling machine, to groove out the right side to clear.
Any one else have issues with their AKM rail biting the brass on the way out?
