I remember seeing a photo of a modified (bent downwards) charging handle for the SAN rifles but damned if I can find that thread or the charging handles on the net. I thought I might find it on TSE's website but no luck.

Anyone know what I'm talking about and where one can be found? The handle on my Black Special Target is just a hair close to the windage turret on the Mark 4 on the rifle.

Thanks in advance.

not sure if i would use a plastic aftermarket part as replacement for such critical part. it links piston+carrier.

Me thinks I found another specialty item to make up!

I'll put it on the list.

The Botach one? It's 4130 steel.

I wonder if the CQB charging handle would fit. It so, it will give a little more clearance. I don't see why it wouldn't fit.... I'll go give it a try.

Should take you about a day to get it right. We need to dream up something more challenging...after you hook me up!

wouldnt that downward angled one get in the way when the stock is folded?

That's a good question. In it's rearmost position there is .580" clearance between the bottom of the charging handle and the folded stock. The photos look like the Botach handle would drop too much to function properly on a folded stock rifle. But a half-inch more drop would make a big difference while still allowing the rifle to function properly. All bets would be off with a cheek riser though.

I've got access to a Black Special, I'll flange something up one of these days. Shouldn't be hard to move it down and still work with the stock folded. Busy working on my new gas system right now, I'll get to it sooner or later.

While you're at it, maybe think about a re-worked safety lever. Something along the lines of a dog-legged design like some H&Ks.
There are enough people who b!tch about them (me included) - they would sell like hot cakes.

Great, once you are done a days work over the milling machine making minimum wage you can come on here and read all the slagging guys are putting you through:cheers:
