modifying 12ga for steel shot?

So the old guy across the street is selling an old mossburg that he says he had modified to fire steel shot. Does anybody know what he might be referring to? Excuse my ignorance but I've never heard of this.

likely ,he means the choke was opened up to at least Mod. Other than Damascus barrels I can no reason you can't shoot steel..

If it was a complete job the forcing cone would also be lengthened, a gunsmith inspection would confirm what was done.

Quick check is with a dime. Dime wont fit in the end of a standard 12g barrel with a full choke. I have some extras around. Couple bucks each. You pay shipping lol

True.... if you know what the bore Id is. I'm not sure if those old guns are stamped or not but they probably are.

Did you get those from Brownell's and who did the paperwork?
