hey, wanting to get a big loop lever for my win 94 but can't seem to locate one in canada. so, thinking of getting my welding buddy to cut my existing loop, heat and bend it a bit, and then weld in a piece of the correct size steel to make a big loop. doesn't look too difficult to do this and a couple of hours time would save a couple hundred $. wondering if anyone has done this and if so, could offer any tips.

thanks in advance.

I’d take the advice given so far! Better to be prepared than have a bubba’d lookin gun. Will a factory big loop lever just swap out or no?

But, you already have a plan, so pitter patter and git it done.
Just my .05 worth of justinflation.

OP - you didn't mention which version of 94 you have. There are several. Numrich Arms (gunparscorp.com) has a new post '64 large lever @ US $93.23, part number 319490A.

Watching the auctions, most any respectable 94 brings $800 or more these days. This is why I suggest using a second lever for the project. If it works out, great. If the cut and weld doesn't work out so well, the rifle isn't compromised.

Yes, a skilled metal fabricator can do exactly what you want. I used to have old motorcycles and had to have stuff fabricated all the time since you can't get parts for some of them easily or at all. The deciding factor for me was usually cost if I could find a part cheaper than having it fabricated I usually went that route but nowadays it's pretty hard to get anything imported in so might be worth it. I personally have fabricated a few minor parts at home for some of my rifles cuz I didn't like the factory version and there were no aftermarket parts even available for what I wanted to do, they turned out quite good and look great. The trick is finding a very skilled fabricator and welder or Gunsmith that does this, you don't want to warp the rest of the lever either.
