Anyone who has a T-01 mount will know how thin the rail is on it, so only weaver tip off mounts will work. But what if someone machined off the thin rail, and put a standard weaver real on it? would this work? It would probably raise the scope about a 1/4 of an inch, but thats not too bad.

From what i can see, its just a matter of machining off the old rail, drilling and taping a few holes, then screwing the new base on. An experienced machinist should be able to do it. Would this work?

I've seen this done. The TOS has a very narrow rail and frequently fails. You can file of the very small rib and add a solid rib on top. I use the Parker Hale #BA26. It's 4.50" long and has a couple positions for your rings. I've got a few of these so if someone wants one of these PM. Ron

i have done this. machine off the top 3/8" rail. go to town and get a weaver toprail ment for the marlin lever gun with the flat top. cant rember which one it is. put the 2 together, drill and tap new holes to tie the top to the bottom. done. 3000% better
