Mods..How about a new room dedicated to casting?....

http: //castboolits.gunloads.com/ is dedicated to the cast bullet shooter.
Yes a forum here would be nice but these guys have every topic covered.
From loading tools, to alloys, to the problem of getting wheel weights - FIRST.
Cast bullet shooting gets popular and we gonna have to find new sources of lead...
OR buy it from plumbing shops and metal suppliers.
We have three tire shops in a town of 6500 people. At any given time between the cast bullet shooters, home shotmakers, and other folks who use salvage wheel weights there may be 1/4 to 1/3 of a 20 litre pail of wheel weights left in any tire shop.

How about just a sticky at the top of the reloading page? Just a basic "How to" on casting with some FAQ that most people will ask like "whats the best lead alloy to use" or whatever may pop up. I am just getting into casting so i would like a detailed info source on CGN. it has been said before, with tighter restrictions on exports coming from the US, tied with hording down south, casting might just become a very popular part of reloading as bullets become more scarce and pricey.

A casting room would be a great addition but not absolutely necessary. The sticky idea is a good one, too.

I would rather see them make a separate room for ammo away from the reloading supplies on the EE, though.

My idea for a casting forum is based on my belief that casting is a rather specialized skill that entirely different from "normal" reloading...Melting of the lead, tin etc... Using the molds, the different type of melting pots available (bottom pouring, top ladling), a difference in mold makers, as well as having a little knowledge of metallurgy (no?), all appear that it would be best addressed in a separate forum....Just my thoughts.....Yes, one can go to another forum, but you can also go to other forums for reloading, black guns and red guns, but the people here are so much more interesting...(cough).....

I work for a company that buys quite a few new vehicles each year....we currently have around 300 road vehicles operating. Needless to say, we deal with quite a few different suppliers, including several other garages. Last week, I gave up being Mr Niceguy and driving around hoping somebody would sell me some at a fair price. Now I'm strong arming our suppliers :)

Giving the people who don't cast, a specific area to read & learn about it , and the people who do a place to discuss it, may help attract more people to that discipline and to the website. Nothing to lose by trying it.
