A lot of fellows on this forum are familiar with the "Wipe Out" brand of bore cleaner. They have two lubrication products which have been adopted by the armed forces in the U.S. Military. One called MAXX and a second product called "SLICKER"
This "SLICKER" is a special type of thin grease that comes in a pressurized can and is used on lubrication requirements such as slide rails and bolt lugs and such . It sprays on thin as water and then the carrier in the formulation evaporates off and leaves a thin film of grease on the metal surface.
It was recommended to me recently to try this as a mold release when glass bedding rifle actions and it truly is the easiest and best performing product I have tried to date.Leaves a nice looking finish on the bedding and the glass bed does not stick at all to the metal of the action.
You still have to putty over obvious holes in the action to prevent a mechanical bond caused by the bedding flowing into screw holes but it is a great product for this application. Just a tip for my fellow gun accurizing enthusiasts.
