From what I've read, the monopod is okay for any sort of distance shooting, as it drags on the shooting bench or ground under recoil it can cause some inconsistency. They are nice for more 'field' use because they're attached to the rifle and nice and compact.
The rear bags (what I ended up getting) are obviously a lot more bulky, but because it's riding on the smooth stock and just sits on the bench or ground, it's MUCH more consistent. As well it can provide much more 'fine' adjustments when squeezing it, as well they do seem to be more forgiving.
If it's something you're going to just be taking to the range then I'd suggest a rear bag, if it's something for a field gun where you wont necessarily have flat ground to put it, then the Accu-Shot monopod would be a good way to go!
Brownells does have some nice shooting bags on their website, the one I got had the 'low' leather ears, I have heard it recommended to go with nylon ears as they are nicer if it's a little wet.
