I don't know if this was ever posted but i never saw it befor so i thought i would share it in case it was'nt.

The downloaded pictures are of a man who works for the US Forest Service in Alaska and his trophy bear.

He was out deer hunting last week when a large grizzly bear charged him from about 50 yards away. The guy emptied his 7mm Magnum semiautomatic rifle into the bear and it dropped a few feet from him. The big bear was still alive so he reloaded and shot it several times in the head.

The bear was just over one thousand six hundred pounds. It stood 12' 6" high at the shoulder; 14' to the top of his head. It's the largest grizzly bear ever recorded in the world.

Of course, the Alaska Fish and Wildlife Commission did not let him keep it as a trophy, but the bear will be stuffed and mounted, and placed on display at the Anchorage airport to remind tourists of the risks involved when in the wild.

Based on the contents of the bears stomach, the Fish and Wildlife Commission established the bear had killed at least two humans in the past 72 hours including a missing hiker.

The US Forest Service, backtracking from where the bear had originated, found the hiker's 38-caliber pistol emptied. Not far from the pistol was the remains of the hiker. The other body has not been found.

Although the hiker fired six shots and managed to hit the grizzly with four shots (the Service ultimately found four 38 caliber slugs along with twelve 7mm slugs inside the bear's dead body), it only wounded the bear and probably angered it immensely.

The bear killed the hiker an estimated two days prior to the bear's own death by the gun of the Forest Service worker.

If you are an average size man Think about this:

You would be level with the bear's navel when he stood upright.

The bear would look you in the eye when it walked on all fours!

To give additional perspective, consider that this particular bear, standing on its hind legs, could walk up to an average single story house and look over the roof, or walk up to a two story house and look in the bedroom windows.

When I last saw it they posted pictures of the person that was partially eaten by that big mudda before it was killed.

This has been circulating around the net for quite some time now. Almost every site has a different story to go with it. In fact, it was even on the Boone and Crockett site for awhile. In other words, it is not so easy to figure out what the true story is. Big bugger, isn't he!

Most of the story is crap.

Bear wasn't nearly as heavy or tall as reported, hadn't eaten any one, and it didn't charge the guy. He shot it with a (IIRC) a .338 and, as he had a brown bear tag, he and his buddy had set up on it when they saw it coming down a creek. Bear didn't have any other old bullet holes in him either.

Bear ranked around 20 something in the B&C records.

Found the story (it's been around longer than I thought) http://www.snopes.com/photos/animals/bearhunt.asp

2001 was the first time I saw them.
The Kodiak that Fred Bear bow killed was bigger, IIRC, and it wasn't "photoshopped" in the 50's!

Haha, seems to be a new gun used everytime.

Good to see the Snopes article, now I can put this to bed, last I heard it was a 270 used and of course I believed it. I figure if the Jordan buck could be taken with a 25-20 why wouldn't a grizz drop to a 270.

The real story is that the man in the picture was just a guide that happened to have taken Chuck Norris out bear hunting in Alaska. There was no rifle used. The massive Grizzly was killed with a single roundhouse kick to the head after Chuck determined that using a firearm on such a creature would not amount to a fair fight...

Hutchster... wow! that polar is huge!

I do believe the brown bear is real...yes it has been around the net for awhile. "Will the real hunter of this terrific animal please stand up! "

The guy that fixes my computer said he did a "pixel" something or other on the picture a couple years ago and said it was all out of whack.....which in simple man's terms means it is a fake. and he said the pixels out of whack were of the guy, not the bear. In his opinion, the picture started out as a pic of a bear then someone put the guy in the pic.

If its real, you'd think it would be on display or something.......?
