Montana Actions

I talked to a 'smith who uses these actions to make custom rifles, and his only modification is putting in a heavier spring. He had some misfires in the past and this fixed the problem.
 
I have one its a C.M. long act. in 416 rem., bbl. is S.S M.R.C. ,left hand bolt. I,m very pleased with it so far I have fired 411 rds. I have had a feeding prob. but it was a easy fix and the rifle works 100%. now. I also broke two leopold scopes but that seems to corrected now. The action is an casting but for a hard use hunting role I don,t see that as a negative. I,m very pleased with the bbl. it does not seem to collect any copper fouling. I have been going 50 rds. between cleanings same thing for another bbl. I have of there,s in 223rem.
 
I used one to build a left hand .300 win mag. Mated it to an Adams & Bennet heavy (F54 contour) barrel 1 in 10 twist. Stuck that in a Robertson Composite hunting stock, set the trigger and sighted in with a King Optics 2.5-10x50AO scope. If it would have been right handed i would have kept it for myself.

The action was nice to work with and the rifle is as accurate as anuthing out there. 5 rounds in a jagged hole at a 100 or better. The round count is not super high, less than 50 but no issues feeding, trigger, safety etc.

If you like the style of the M70 action with some of the M98 characteristics then you will not be disappointed. Th e biggest problem with the actions right now is their high demand and short supply. According to their website, everything is on backorder.
 
The action side of mrc is for sale now and they have some management issues as I'm told. They have cancelled their run of PH actions. I had 2 of the lefty's and both had issues. Since I hadn't exported them from US yet I sent them back. Crude-rough machining with tool marks present. Firing pin holes were offset. They have been returned to me but I haven't seen them yet. Will be going south next week. I have talked to them several times since returning the actions and was pleased with the response. We'll se how they look now.
I think they are cast then cnc machined. I have no experience with their barrels.Mark
