Montana Vintage Arms vernier sights

MVA sights are absolutely top notch, no slack in adj., beautifully finished, prolly the best made, just make sure it has the features that you want. Make sure you get one that is high enough for your plans. Are you looking at a soule type sight, as these are favoured for their repeatable settings esp. windage.

I have a Marlin 1894 in 45 Colt. I would like to shoot it out at the Stoon silhouette range max. 200 yd rams. In email conversations with MVA, we narrowed it down to the Sharps Vernier Mid range Model 108. They say the base was fashioned for the Marlin and because of the bullet trajectory this will give me sufficient elevation for the purpose. The 108 is also adjustable for windage.

MVA is to iron sights what Swarovski is to optics. I bought a LR Buffalo Soule this spring finally for mounting on my Shiloh. I had to pull it out of the bag and fiddle with it countless times before it found its way onto the rifle.

What kind of rifle are you wanting one for, and for what type of shooting?

I'm not kidding. I bought it at Shiloh Rifle in Big Timber, and must have run the eyepiece top to bottom 50 times before I got home. Almost ran my truck of the road once too. They are so nicely machined that you just want to handle them. First thing I did when I got home after unloading my truck was peel off the old C. Sharps sight (that worked pretty good) and mount this magnificent unit. I should mention that it wa 11:30 p.m. when I got in the door. Yeah, I'm a rifle crank with a sickness. :p

Sorry, I wasn't paying attention. The #108 would be a good choice. I suppose the #104 Schuetzen wouldn't have enough elevation. Maybe look into their #130 Windguage Sporting as well. A word of warning on the front sights though. The combination flip-up jobbies aren't as big as they look in the catalogue. I have one on a Kennedy rifle I just bought. Dainty.

Thanks for the vote of confidence. I phoned this morning and placed my order for the Model 108. Will be a couple of weeks as they are just finishing the bases.
