Moon Clips

If you dropped a loaded Rimz (plastic moonclip), it will break. Stick with steel and get a mooner/demooner from moonclip.com

I haven't broken the Rimz clips yet and they have been stepped on. If you drop them on a hard surface the brass does tend to fly. If you are a Bullseye shooter, then the Rimz would work perfectly.

But, as acrashb said, stick with the steel moonclips.

As for using speedloaders, I use Comp2's for IDPA and Comp2's and Comp3's for IPSC. That's in my 686 w/4" barrel.

I'm not much slower than with moonclips.

Yes the 627's are machined for clips and ship with 3 included. I seriously looked at one here but couldn't justify $1600 vs the $950 I paid for my new 686. I've got some nice Safariland Comp III Speedloaders and they are great with round nose ammo but I tried them with full wadcutters and because there's no taper to the bullet you have to line the unit up just right before pushing the button. i'll try SWC's and see how that goes.

Geez, for a $1600 revolver you'd think that S&W would throw in more than three clips that are probably worth (to them) about 15 cents. It'd be nice to be able to load up 50 or more rounds at a time. You're right about full wadcutters--they're tough to load--you should have better luck with SWC's, although the "lip" still catches a bit on the chamber
