Last year (Nov 6) we had a Full Moon for the start of deer season, and my epxerience was that the deer were not moving like previous years. The theory was that the Full Moon allowed them better conditions to move about at night, so they did. However the weather had been warm, and rut might have been delayed, and that could have contributed as well.

This year (Nov 5) we have pretty much a New Moon. How can we assume this will affect deer movement?

Moon phases will affect the deer hunt. Best to hunt when there is no moon out at night, so the deer come out to feed earlier, before it gets dark.

Last year was perfect. The opening morning we had frost, Full moon. Rut was at its peak during the middle of the week. We never saw or shot so many bucks as we did last year. Don't think this year will be quite the same. Unless it starts to get cold real quick. I am seeing some good buck sign though. Some nice rubs already. MONDAY bow season starts! can't wait

I find that the Full Moon makes me wake up naked in the woods covered in blood laying next to a dead deer...oops did I say that out loud? :p :D
