Moose defense: kinda screwed up

Came across this today. I'm sure there might be different opinions but I'm bothered by this one. It doesn't look like the animal is having an easy time off trail and, reading the body language of the moose, it isn't really all that committed to a fight until the guy on the sled keeps advancing down the trail. Every situation is different but I don't think this is really self defense:
