After going 19 years without being drawn for a moose tag, I was finally drawn, and 2 of my sons were drawn for the first time ever. We made a lot of good memories, and have a little something to chew on this winter.

This one has the largest antlers, 54 1/2 inches, and weighed 921 lbs field dressed.

My sons are the two on the left, and the one on the right is the designate hunter for one son and our guide. This moose weighed 945 field dressed, and measured 41 inches.

Okay, only a cow moose for my tag, and no picture. My excuse is we were going for quality meat, not size. 2 1/2 year-old dry cow, field dressed 495 lbs.

Nice, Congrats, what are the hunt specs, gun, cartridge, distance

Bulls were shot at less than 30 yards (estimated), heaviest one shot at with both 7mm Rem Mag and 30-06 Weatherby Lazerguard, and lighter bull was one-shot kill with 300 Win Mag; both 7mm and 300wm firearms (usage) compliments of Fierce Firearms. The Weatherby was my rifle, but carried by my son. Cow was shot at 125 yds. with Ruger #1 in 300 win mag.

It was a combination of soft calling and walking up on them. Where the pictures were taken is actually kind of open as compared to some of it. Moose can run full speed through stuff that you can't crawl through, but the crashing sound they make doing it sounds pretty awesome.

The Fierce Firearms were worth about $6000 and $7000 cdn. Bit pricey for me. They were set up for hunting out to 1000 yds., which was not all needed when you can only see 15 to 50 yds at most where we were hunting.

You folks had an incredibly successful hunt despite the full moon before the opener and rain, wind and warm temps. Congratulations, I am very envious and dreaming of some day having my own NB Moose hunt. That I can hopefully share with my father and brothers.
