Moose hunting in MB

Howdy,

has anyone been hunting in area 19A for moose? Looks like I can swing holidays this year for the first time in a way that would allow me to go for 5 days or so during the Dec 5-17 season. My inlaws live in Dauphin so I could drive up there from Winnipeg and have a place to stay not to far from 19A. Another area I could go is 26 near the whiteshell. I don't have a place to stay there though. I've never been moose hunting but the opportinity is presenting itself this year and I'd like to give it a whirl.

Anyone got any ideas?

If you get the chance you should go. I shot my first moose this year in the early season in the Duck Mountain area.( bigger than a spike, but not much,600lbs.)

I have never been in 19a, been in 26 a few times, 17A as well. You never know when your hunt will be the one of your lifetime. Be prepared for lots of work if you shoot one. It took us 6 hours to get our animal in the truck in quarters.

"...600lbs..." Where do you shoot a moose? Close to the road.

dwKeller: I been hunting on the Wellman Lake Rd, north of Wellman, west of the West favell river. Have only been out twice due to work. i hope to go this sat, as it is the last day of the season.
