Moose hunting in WMU 65

Never bothered. Too crowded, not a lot of public land.

I know a few guys that have and have been successful. Why?

With about 50 tags a year...getting drawn is tough.

I applied a couple of years, but gave up trying.

A friends father harvested a BIG bull (IIRC #2 Ont bowhunting record at the time) in Larose Forest. (2002?)

There are moose around, most of the ones I have seen hide out in large woodlots or as mentioned above Larose forest. If you do get drawn expect to do alot of scouting and possibly come up empty handed. Also as mentioned there is a poor chance of getting drawn, I tried for a few years with no luck.

On the bright side if you do get drawn and let people know you are looking for a moose farmers are generally quick to let you hunt as the moose can knock down literally acres of corn in one night.
