Hunted moo pretty much everywhere. Coming back from NFLD this year saw a dandy come up to one of those 3 meter fences about half way up the province. I get the impression there's less of them than NFLD, but they might be a bit bigger like northern ont moo. The big legal difference I notice is that NFLD reserves the lions share of tags for non resident, begging the questions A) Do You need a guide in NB ? B) Will he be able to get me away from the local pressure or is it like whitetail in ont, orange behind every tree?

Firstly good luck getting drawn, I don't know what the ratio works out to but I believe there is only approximately 100 non resident tags given out province wide. Yes you will need a guide and as far getting away from the crowd, that can be challenge depending on who your guide is and hat you're willing to pay/ do to access the remoter areas. Fortunately we may get to keep our 5 day season, as opposed to the traditional 3 day anxiety ridden stress test that it used to be. As for quality of our moose, size wise its a lot like Newfoundland, a lot of smaller racks with the occasional big rack thrown in.

Not to start an argument, but this is incorrect.

2013 season figures (only total of 31,005 listed in new guide)

Resident Quota: 26,770
Non-Resident Quota: 3,930

Not sure about Moose hunting in NB, but how often would you get a licence when applying?

I only apply every other year and get a licence every other year.

With the odds every five years for me some people are luckier.Like JamesM said smaller racks but around my area it is about the meat. One year we got a Bull Moose skinned hanging on the hook at Comeau's you get charged by the pound and no lie it weight 740 Pds on the hook and not a very big rack. One year we got a Cow and one year calf best meat you ever tasted.Good Luck on your draw if you apply.

Well i'm going on 8 years now without a liscence, and i know some who have 25+ years without it. At the same time some people seem to get it every other year.

Holly Crap, that is a lot of waiting... Is there no pool system?

We have priority pools, the higher you are in the priority, the higher chance of getting a tag.

That said, some Moose management areas have a higher percentage of applicants.

FIL before he passed away was five years before he got his last tag. Area had small number of licences.

There is now hunting in our National Park and i know that some years there were hundreds of licences not issued.

I know of people that had Either ### licence in the Park every year the last three years.

Not common, but there are moose taken here each year weighing 220 + lbs per quarter.

Biggest one I ever saw (lifted) was 235 lbs PQ (Skin off)

There is a pool system in place for the last few years, too early to tell if it will make a big difference. I hope it does or my next hunt will be from a walker with a gun rail.
