Hey Guys!

I've done a search for this but the answers I found were not all that accurate. So here is my situation,

I've been moose hunting for 10+ years. My best friend has wanted to get into moose hunting for a while now. This year we had an opening in our camp so he's doing his hunting course and everything this coming weekend (Sept 14-16) Now what I would like to know is that once he has his course complete, can he carry his own rifle using his copy of his PAL paperwork as a temporary or will he have to be under my direct supervision?

I know his outdoors card won't take long to update but I HIGHLY doubt that he will get his actual PAL before Moose Opener on October 6th.

Thanks guys!

I was in the same situation last year and hunted under supervision, as in two guys, one gun. A copy of your unapproved PAL paperwork and course test does not mean you will be approved for a PAL. AFAIK...

I'm not familiar with Ontario hunting regulations but as far as the firearms act goes, your friend can only use a borrowed firearm under direct supervision.
An application for a pal is just that, as is a course completion certificate.

this.

Under supervision, and shared firearm.

I received my licence exactly 5 weeks after I mailed in my paperwork... at 4 weeks I knew my PAL number already ( as a just in case kinda thing...;))
Until he has the licence in his hands though, he can only hunt under direct supervision. I suppose you can't hold off going for a week or 2....
