...this time in Sask. and it's farmland moose.
I'll be hunting public land and some farmland but I expect to find my moose on public land.
I have a truck but no atv so I'm limited. I wonder if I can retrieve my moose with my truck.

I have some experience with game quartering so it shouldn't be too bad sionce my tag is for cow only.

Moose would be my biggest animal so far and was curious how hard this would be for only 1 person.

Going by how the weather is by me, not a chance
The truck is getting through any of the fields
For how wet/muddy they are and still crops out there

I am being picky to were i drop one for not pi55ing off any landowner

Best of luck to you

Find a small one. Ideally, find a small one in the back of your truck. But take along something like a Krazy Karpet to drag the quarters on. I've gone out solo for moose, but fortunately didn't get one.

was thinking to use a duffel bag and/ or a pvc sled.

On the other hand, how do you call a cow effectively ?

I shot a bull this year and was alone. Luckily I was able to drive right up afterwards, it still took me 5 hours to gut, skin, quarter and load it. It's a lot of work but well worth it. I had a couple cloth game bags that I put the legs into before moving them and they stayed the cleanest. I've done many moose over the years but found it was hard to keep it clean when I was alone, that's the only reason I mention the game bags. Good luck with your hunt

perhaps you will find a cow calf pair, then take the calf :)

trick then is to not get stomped by the cow while your up to your armpits gutting the calf, but the calf is good eating and much easier to handle, still a big beastie.

crazy carpet is helpful, so is a little snow or stubble to help reduce the friction.

I've been looking at a sheet of puckboard that I have thinking that I should make a sled out of it for bigger critters.

as for getting it in the truck, quad ramps are a start, but a sheet of 3/4" plywood makes a fine ramp and a comealong or other heavy duty ratchet straps will work.
