Moose in Yard

Somethings up- especially if the moose is not bothered by the dog. They tend to HATE dogs. Your options are limited though. Now that the internet knows dealing with it yourself is kinda off the table (posting was probably the equivalent of telling ten hairdressers ;) ) and ignoring the cow could backfire easily. When I lived in Idaho the snow got abnormally deep one winter and we had a cow moose decide to live in the clearing our cabin was in. I lost count of the number of footraces I had with that damn thing trying to stamp me.....
I know you really don't want to, but calling the CO's may be the best option. Either they scare it off in some way that you haven't or they shoot it which you may like to do but can't legally. Either way it can only get better not worse.
If you really want one last try on your own wind up the dog and bring lots of bear bangers or an air horn. Don't forget to post pics though!! :D

I am going to disagee

She looks to be in fine condition, I have wondered if she is the same cow I had a run in with a few weeks ago. I see no calf, but maybe the wolves got the calf. I was also wondering if she is afraid of wolves. Lots of deer around me bed down very close to homes for safety.

Fair enough.

I think you're just gonna have to go toe-to-toe then. Show this bugger who's boss.

Walk right up to her and punch her right in the beak...hard! And don't show any sign of fear...they can sence that.

It'll be kinda like bear wrestling, but with a larger, herbivore.

Watch the left hook, they can't swing well, but if they manage to clock you with a hoof, it'll knock you out.

All kidding aside...

They are agressive creatures if they feel their young has any type of threat, OR, bull moose in the rut could get pretty knawrly from what I hear from bowhunters. Mind you, the close encounters are brought on by the hunter calling them, and the moose thinking it's another alpha-bull looking for some action.

I once questioned a game warden : If you shoot a calf moose, and the cow comes after you, can you shoot it in self defence.

The answer was "No", never happen. They may fake a charge, but nothing that a warning shot from a rifle can't ward off.

He said in all his years of being a CO, this has never happened.

As for your current situation, you may want to let the authorities know and have them deal with it.

If you shoot her and they find out, well.....you kow the rest of the story.

You could do what this guy did..

A train had hit the mother , but her calf was spared, so the man in the
picture took it home and nursed it from a new born, and it never left.
The moose stayed around with his horses and slept in the barn,

so ingeniously, he started harnessing it with his horses.

When they finally died, the bull moose still didn't leave, not even during

the rut season,

so the old man used the huge moose for his work.

This guy lives up in Grenfell Saskatchewan, Canada.

The above pic is a fake. And so is the story.

Take a close look at the piles of logs in either bottom corner- they are an exact mirror image of each other. Nicely done, but not reality.
