Moosecalculation*
yup, missed opportunity for the thread title.
And OP.. Good on you.
Moosecalculation*
I've cut a deer loose from a barbed wire fence that got snagged up the same way. The top two strands of the wire had caught on each other and needed to be cut right next to the leg to let her escape without a twist of wire remaining around her leg. First cautious snip...no reaction from the deer. Emboldened, I reached out to do the other cut and she went ballistic. I was lucky to avoid a hoof to the face, and she was lucky not to get more hopelessly entangled. I had to wait about ten minutes for her to tire and relax a bit before I could make the second cut...at which point she trotted away fairly calmly without a backward glance.
I can't imagine how much more stressful this moose situation would have been, for both the moose and the man!
I've been kicked by a 3/4 dead deer that was hit by a car and the amount of force behind that hoof from a weakened animal while laying on its side was unbelievable. A kick from a moose could most definitely kill a man.
A ballsy move getting so close to the moose. Well done.
