moose tries to outrun train

Hard to train them to use the crossing. Back in the day I hosed off lot's of locomotives with critters on the plow, knuckle and endplate. When I was in Alaska for the Alaskan RR, they issued crews 45-70 Marlins to put the moose out of thier misery if required. Locomotives actually make a great hunting platform, until it becomes time to shoot. You see a lot of game, but the vibration makes it very tough to hit anything. I did meet a guy who put a 9mm slug through a cab heater though, came as a bit of a surprise to him. - dan

i've noticed that geese do the same thing, instead of just getting off the road they just run along it

Myth eh???????

Those folks on hazard pay sure know what they're talking about...

I was a little surprised myself.. after a quick search in google, I also found this:

While loud noises are commonly thought to trigger avalanches, research suggests that an avalanche caused by sound is highly unlikely. (http://www.wikihow.com/Stay-Safe-in-Avalanche-Country)

If I put a little more time towards it, I'm sure I could find more, but I also found websites for parks safety in the US and Quebec that mention avalanche triggers, and sound is not included in the list...
