Just moved out to Ontario and I'm going to pick up my first long-gun to go after deer and moose with my relatives here... I usually used a 30.06 in BC, but that belonged to my dad, need to get my own and wondered has anyone done OK taking down Moose with 12g slugs? I'm on a budget, want something I can chase after ducks with as well... Bring forth the venting, please!

12 gauge with a rifled barrel and a 28in smooth barrel for ducks. On a budget I'd look at the Rem 870 express combo. under 600 for the gun and both barrels

At that price, why not look at an inexpensive rifle like a stevens or mossberg along with an inexpensive shotgun?

Stevens 200: ~$300
Mossberg 500/rem 870 or similar: ~$300-350

Yea you can buy a Maveric 12 gauge 2 3/4 & 3" for $212.
Then a stevens 200 for $305 + maybe $100 for an ok scope

Stevens 200 Calibers:
223 REM
22-250 REM
243 WIN
7MM-08 REM
308 WIN
25-06 REM
270 WIN
