I was back at the shooting bench yesterday with 2 40-70 SS, mine & Buck's rifle and of course the Maynard. The focus yesterday was to try a different powder in the Maynard.
I shot the left target with 5 rounds of IMR4198 toped with the 400 Gr Snover boolit and the right target got 10 rounds of 22 grs of Rx7 with the same Snover boolit.
Here's the target(s):
The left group measured 1 7/16" - .410" = 1.024" The right group measured 1 9/16" - .410" = 1.096"
I have an N.O.E. mould that drops a 400 gr boolit, similar to the Snover. I will try these next week with the same powder & charges.
All targets are shot at 100 yds.
