More amazing Marlin XL7 accuracy.

Mine in 25-06 worked great last year.

I bought a Marlis XS-7, 243 Winchester, from a fellow gunnut a while ago.
I threw together some ammo with 100 grain bullets [4 types] and a couple of
different powder charges.
It would put two pretty close, and then would drop one about 2" to the right.
If I shot a 4th round, it was usually even further to the right.
Seemed to do this no matter which load I tried.
Took it home, pulled it out of the stock, took a close look, and removed the two "pads" at the front of the barrel channel completely.
Adjusted the trigger to an even 3#, Screwed it back into the Fiberglas, and headed
to the range again.
Last 4 groups I shot were all 1" or smaller, without flyers. [Hornady 100SPFB IL shot best @ .67"]
We have some 3" gongs at 200M at the range....was able to hit them regularly without any issues.
This rifle is stamped "JM", and the action is quite smooth.
For the price, I think they are pretty decent value.
Eagleye.

I've got the Marlin XS7 in a .308 and love it. Straight out of the box with the $18 a box federal 150 grain ammo, and getting under 1.5" groups out of it. Hoping to get my first deer with it in the next couple months.
